About & press
Building the operating system for the kitchen.
KAI is an independent product company. We are building a single, coherent layer for how households know what they have, decide what to cook, and buy what they need.

Know more. Cook smarter, eat better.
Positioning
Not a recipe app. A kitchen operating system.
KAI maintains the live state of a household kitchen and uses it to answer four questions in order: what do I have, what should I cook, what should I buy, and how do I cook it. The architecture is local-first and private by default. The logic is deterministic where correctness matters, and AI-enhanced only where judgment genuinely helps.
The product is currently in a small private beta, with a public launch planned. It will be free for home cooks. Revenue comes from category-exclusive brand partnerships, partner-supported editorial, and chef-authored packs sold on mysmartkai.com.
What we believe
The kitchen deserves a system
Every other part of the home has been given software. The kitchen received recipe archives and shopping carts. We think it needs a state layer.
Correctness is the product
A cooking assistant that is confidently wrong is worse than no assistant. Determinism is not a limitation, it is the point.
Free should mean free
KAI is free for home cooks. The business is built on labeled partnerships and chef packs, not on the resale of household data.
